Held in August each year. Rodeos have long been a popular competitor and spectator sport in Australia, but were not run on an organized basis until the 1880s.© Wikipedia

We organised our second visit to Mount Isa to coincide with the Mount Isa Rodeo. A 3 day Rodeo pass gave us general admission to the Rodeo for Friday, Saturday and Sunday so we could come and go as often as we wanted. (There are several different types of passes). There was no trouble finding a seat in the shade - even though we all wore our cowboy hats for fun. Lots to see - bull riding, rope & tie, steer wrestling, team roping, barrel racing etc.
I have read that they are offering a behind the scenes tours at the Rodeo this year which would be really interesting. This is a very popular event and I would recommend that you book accommodation early. This is the biggest Rodeo in Australia - running since 1959. We had a great time and I would love to go back one day.
