Burleigh Heads is about 88 kilometres south east of Brisbane on the beautiful Queensland coast. Located near the Gold Coast (but not as 'touristy'), it is a very popular holiday destination with great beaches. Burleigh Heads has a world-class surf break and trendy cafes and restaurants overlooking the ocean so you can watch the surfing action while having lunch. We headed here for the day when staying at Coolangatta and found it easy to get around, park and explore the area.
Burleigh Heads began as a quiet fishing village which has become increasing popular with visitors over the years. Accommodation ranges from resorts to self-contained apartments, as well as caravan and camping grounds (you can find holiday deals through Burleigh Tourism). I think there is something for everyone here - unique markets and boutiques, trendy bars, cafes, and restaurants to suit all taste. This is a very picturesque spot and there are plenty of places to sit in the shade and enjoy a picnic or use the free gym equipment in the park alongside the beach. The temperature is mild all year round - a great place to get away from the cold weather.
