Murray River Walk is one of the Great Walks of Australia, showcasing the Murray River and the Riverland in South Australia.

A multi-day, fully supported walking tour, guests walk approximately 14 km daily and arrive at a modern houseboat that travels to each daily walking destination.

Hot showers and a spa on the top deck are a treat.

The walk caters for maximum 10 people and is rated as easy, including 40km of natural trails and 70km of guided cruising.

Friendly knowledgeable guides are at the heart of the experience, using features in the landscape to impart stories of Aboriginal culture, the paddle steamer industry, wildlife identification and more.

A spectacular sunrise walk to the rim of the valley is a highlight.

Walking season is May to September inclusive.

Murray River Walk is Ecotourism certified demonstrating our commitment to best practice interpretation, environmental care and minimal impact walking and cruising.

Murray River Walk operates entirely within the Riverland Ramsar Wetland of International Importance.

Murray River Walk is designed to tread lightly with small groups up to 10 people per walk, to share the river during the cooler months when the river is most peaceful, and to respect the Aboriginal peoples who first inhabited the river country.

We interpret our regional history of pastoralism, paddle steamers and the first irrigation settlement in Australia, the birthplace of the houseboat industry and the first community hotel in the British Empire.

We will help you understand how the river was formed, its challenges today and help you identify the plants and animals that depend on a healthy river system.

We celebrate the new stewardship of best practice irrigation and environmental watering that produces internationally renowned local wine and food, whilst protecting nature and nurturing our local tourism economy.

Proudly we have been accepted into the Great Walks of Australia collective in recognition of the experiences that our knowledgeable and passionate Guides deliver in a truly remarkable natural environment, where enough time is spent to immerse oneself in discovering the magic of Australia’s greatest river.

We will share stories about the history, culture and nature of this river with you, so that you can share them with others. The Riverland Ramsar Wetland has many stories worth sharing.
