Walpa Gorge is found at Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) within the Uluru - Kata Tjuta National Park, Northern Territory. A car park is provided close to the start of the walk and you will find drinking water available - never underestimate how much water you should carry during hot weather. It was about 38 degrees the day we visited the Olgas and it is suggested that you drink 1 litre of water per hour while waking in the heat.
Walpa Gorge walk is relatively easy and the paths are clearly marked over the rocks. Several bridges have been constructed to make it easy to cross the small ravines as you head into view the gorge. A great viewing platform at the end of the trail has seating to rest and admire the scenery, looking into the gorge and onto some huge rocks that have fallen down over time.
Caves in the rock face are apparently home to a rare type of kangaroo that is able to climb the rock and has the ability to locate and dig for water. We did not see any during our walk as I am sure they only come out during the cooler parts of the day.
