Office Beach Caravan Park     Read more ...

Office Beach Caravan Park is close to town centre of Wallaroo on the Yorke Peninsula in South Australia This caravan park is located on the water front adjacent to the ferry terminal and has a range of cabin accommodation – some of these cabins were the original offices for the Wallaroo Mines.

This caravan park is an older style park with relatively small caravan sites - in fact we would only just be able to fit our van on a couple of the sites that were available during our visit. There are 18 powered sites to choose from (booking ahead is a good idea) and all sites are protected from weather and close to the amenities block.

Some features of the Office Beach Caravan Park are:

  • Beachfront deluxe cabins some with spas
  • studio budget cabins
  • shady grassed (astro turf) sites
  • fish cleaning facilities
  • camp kitchen
  • barbeque area
  • clean amenities and laundry

There are some lovely walking and bike riding tracks along the foreshore of Wallaroo and plenty of historical sites relating to mining in the area. This port was once the second busiest in South Australia due to mining and the smelter – Copper mostly. You can check out the ruins of the smelter and read about how big this industry was from about 1865 to 1920s. Walloroo is great for fishing and there are lots of trawlers on the ocean.

Wallaroo North Beach Tourist Park     Read more ...

When heading down the Yorke Peninsula in South Australia we called in for a few days at the pretty little town of Wallaroo – about 3000 people and a very popular holiday destination.  North Beach Tourist Park is an award winning Top Holiday Park located on the beach about 3 kilometres north of the Wallaroo Post Office.

We arrived very late in the afternoon (after the office had closed) but that was no problem for the Michael and Emma Byrne who run this beautifully maintained park. After a very warm welcome they let us in to set up and allowed us to pay the next morning - quite safe as we did not have the code to the boom gates.

Wallaroo North Beach Tourist Park is very large with a range of accommodation overlooking a very safe swimming beach - the beach is very wide at low tide and the shallow water extends for about 50 metres.  Some great features of the lovely park include:

  • beach front cabins and caravan sites
  • children's playground - shaded jumping pillow with seating for parents
  • hire equipment – go karts and kayaks.
  • covered barbeque
  • several amenities blocks (one brand new) - laundry facilities - disabled facilities
  • camp kitchen with plenty of seating
  • recreation room with lounge and games tables
  • fish and boat cleaning facilities
  • cab cookers
  • dump point
  • boat storage area
  • pet friendly on sites only
  • unpowered sites on large open grassed area

We were able to ride our bikes from the North Beach Tourist Park into the town centre along a bike path running beside the main road. Lots to see along the foreshore with some lovely little cafes and a great baker.  This happened to be Monday and a number of the takeaway outlets were closed but we managed to find Hooked on Fish and Chips in Hughes Street which is a couple of blocks back from the water.  We received very friendly service and then enjoyed a lovely meal with home made potato scallops (they call fritters).

RvTrips highly recommend the North Beach Tourist Park in Wallaroo as a great place to stay with easy access when towing a caravan and large sites.
