Outback Caravan Park & Camp Ground     Read more ...

The Outback Caravan Park and Camp Ground at Undara is set among gum trees, a couple of hundred metres from the reception and main area of the Undara Experience. Our caravan sites was drive-through and off-set from those either side for privacy. These were big sites and we had no trouble negotiating the park - there a quite a few trees for shade. Between each site is a campfire area with a cooking plate on a platform - firewood can be purchased. The amenities were clean with some ensuite-type bathrooms. There is a lovely pool area in the complex and you will see quite a few wallabies around the campsite. Some supplies are available at reception or you can eat at the restaurant.

There a number of tours available to join during your stay or you can explore one of the many walking tracks around Undara. Maps are available from reception which give approximate distances of the walking tracks.

We drove to Kalkani Crater which is about 16 kilometres from the reception area. There is a well-graded walking track to the top of the crater and then walk around the rim to look out over the countryside. You can see where parts of the lava tubes have collapsed over time and rainforest trees have grown - they are dark green patches. There a plenty of signs along the trail around the rim of the crater, and seating is provided to sit and enjoy the view.
